On Friday, May 7th, we went to the pediatrician for Kaleo's 6 day (1 week) check up and found that he had jaundice. He didn't leave the hospital with jaundice so I was kind of blindsided by this. They did a blood test and found his bilirubin levels were too high (18) and admitted us into the hospital. He also was not pooping on his own and therefore not flushing out the toxins. As a result, he needed to be kept under this blue light 24/7 except to eat, and be given suppositories to poop! Poor guy! Daddy kept saying he looked like a "blue smurf." I just kept praying that everything would be alright and that we would be able to go home soon!
